Dr Justine Gatt Profile

About Me

My research focuses on understanding the role of genes and environment in health and well-being, with a focus on measures that include brain function (EEG and MRI), autonomic arousal, personality and behavioural assessment. By adopting an integrative systems approach, I like to examine the mediating mechanisms of genotype-endophenotype-phenotype pathways using multivariate statistics and structural equation (path) modeling techniques.

Research Interests

My ARC-linkage fellowship seeks to clarify the role of genes and environment (risk and resilience) in the emotional well-being of healthy individuals and twins. Well-being will be assessed using various brain-body-behavioural domains of function, with a focus on both the mediating and moderating mechanisms over time, in addition to the heritability of each of the measures. By understanding these mechanisms, I seek to ultimately examine the effects of interventions that promote enhanced well-being in otherwise healthy individuals who show signs of risk for mental illness.
